As the Fall 2016 semester winds down, and we begin gearing up for the Spring 2017 semester, here are a few important items we wanted you to know:

Student access to Fall courses in Blackboard also ends at midnight on 12/21/2016 or two days after the term ends, whichever is earlier. If there is anything you wish to save from your Fall course(s) please copy it to your personal computer prior to midnight on 12/21/2016.
Student Blackboard accounts will be created for students taking Spring semester courses shortly before the start of the semester. The Spring 2017 semester begins on January 20, 2017. Our periodic Blackboard server upgrade is scheduled to start on December 26th at 6:30 AM EST. It should be completed by 6:30 PM EST the same day. We will be upgrading the database to the latest version of Oracle during the downtime.
This transition from version 9.1 October 2014 release to the 2016 Q2/CU3 release is expected to only require a downtime window of 12 hours, as indicated above. In the event that Blackboard needs to extend this upgrade window once the upgrade has started a new notification will be posted here. When the system comes back up it will be usable however various components and features may remain non-functional for a period of time as we test and re-install building blocks and customizations. The system should be fully restored no later than the end of the day on January 3, 2017.
This upgrade is necessary in order to:
We have scheduled the upgrade after Fall courses end and before Spring courses begin in order to minimize any inconvenience.
